Con unas impresionantes 11 nominaciones, el filme de ciencia ficción que dirigió Dennis Villeneuve, Dune, encabeza la edición 2022 de los premios BAFTA. Además, la academia de cine británico otorgó a The Power of the Dog un total de siete nominaciones, una más que a Belfast, del inglés Kenneth Branagh.
Por su parte, será la cinta Madres Paralelas de Pedro Almodóvar quien representará a España en la categoría de películas de habla no inglesa. Mientras que el largometraje de cine negro de Guillermo del Toro, Nightmare Alley, consiguió tres nominaciones. Entre ellas, según dio a conocer la academia de cine británico, están mejor fotografía, mejor diseño de producción y mejor diseño de vestuario.
Serán Belfast, Don’t Look Up, Dune, Licorice Pizza y The Power of the Dog los filmes que competirán por el BAFTA 2022 a mejor película. Además, cabe mencionar que la velada tendrá lugar el próximo 13 de marzo en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres.
Este año, Steven Spielberg se tendrá que conformar con sólo cinco nominaciones por su musical West Side Story, las mismas que recibió No Time to Die, la nueva película de James Bond, y Licorice Pizza.
Asimismo, King Richard, After Love, Boiling Point, Cyrano y Passing tendrán cuatro oportunidades cada una de alzarse con la prestigiosa máscara dorada.
